Media center setup

I'm quite happy with my home theatre system. Put it together fairly cheaply, by getting components from friends and craigslist.

Components

• Big screen TV (got for free)
• Dell Optiplex 620 computer (hooked to the big screen via VGA cable, used for hulu, pandora and banshee) ($50.00)
• Receiver (got for free)
  • 2 insignia speakers in the office (got for free)
  • 2 floor polk audio speakers next to the TV (got for $100.00 of off cragislist)
  • 1 center channel and 2 polk audio book shelf speakers mounted on the wall (got from a friend for $80.00)
• KVM (got for free)

Receiver documentation

Inputs

• DVD input is unused
• CD input is the IPOD dock
• TV input is the cable box
• VCR2 input is the mythtv frontend
• VCR1 input is the main server (not currently hooked up)

Outputs

• A channel is living room
• B channel is office

TV documentation

• VGA input is the myth box
• HDMI input is the KVM

KVM Documentation

• 1 is main server console
• 2 is playstation3 with linux
• 3 is the cable box
• 4 is the HTPC
